Making Sompting a more united community, and a better place to live, work and play.

Run by the Local Trust, Big Local is working with over £200m from the Big Lottery Fund and a range of partners, to provide expert advice and support for residents.

The four programme outcomes for Big Local are:

  • Communities will be better able to identify local needs and take action in response to them
  • People will have increased skills and confidence, so that they continue to identify and respond to needs in the future
  • The community will make a difference to the needs it prioritises
  • People will feel that their area is an even better place to live.

Hi all, you may remember that I posted an appeal for donations to my Summer Survival packs to help families who would otherwise struggle to feed themselves during the school holidays. We also provided backpacks filled with boredom busters. Books, puzzles, games to name a few. It was a big success and we managed to help 12 families in Sompting and Lancing, via the food bank.
We would like to do it on a smaller scale for these families and more for Christmas.
Please help, if you can, to spread a little Christmas cheer for members of our community that would otherwise be facing a very different Christmas to most of us.
Donations can be dropped into SBL, the food bank or message me and I will happily collect.
We are hoping to include: Christmas puddings, cakes, biscuits, Christmas crackers, sweets and savoury treats and any small gifts you may have that you don't want or need. Small toys, games or puzzles, not necessarily new but in good condition and balloons. Toiletries for men and women.
Many, many thanks!
